Description |
Mirror, circa 1830. Boston or New England. Rectangular gilt Empire mirror. The frame's inner liner has a repeated oak leaf composition band. The outer frame has baluster-and-ring turned half-round pilasters at the crest, base and sides. There are double composition acanthus leaves applied to the top and bottom of the pilasters and quadruple leaves applied to the sides. At the corners there are plain square projecting blocks. The frame is fitted with a single panel of mirrored glass. Gilded all over, original backboard never removed. Rare, relatively untouched condition. |
