Wooden Jointed Doll, 20th Century A hand-painted and carved wooden jointed doll. The doll wears a white, pink, green, and gold calico dress, white woven hat with a gray and pink satin ribbon, white linen slip, and laced hemmed linen pantaloons. The round head has black hair, blue eyes and red lips. The legs and arms have mortise and tenon joints with tiny wooden pegs for articulation. The white painted hands are whittled points. The whittled shaped legs and feet are painted red and white. A partial 'not for sale' tag is attached to the dress. Late nineteenth century style. |
