Description |
Stool, circa 1850 Continental Queen Anne-style black and gold lacquered, painted, upholstered stool. The rectangular needlepoint top has an edging of brass domed tacks. The decoration consists of two birds in petit point surrounded by floral motif in gros point. The cushion molded apron has cross-hatched carvings highlighted with a single dot at each center angle. The cabriole legs have trifid or drake feet and are carved on the knee with trailing leaf and flower motif and on the brackets, with scrolls. The flat H-shaped stretchers have an incised band on the inner and outer top edge. The side stretchers are incurvate while the medial stretcher is swelled. |
