Child's Arm Chair, circa 1880 An red-painted child's armchair with a splint seat. This two-slat armchair has equal size slats with straight lower edges and shaped tops. The turned posts have a series of simple ring turning, taper at the base and have flattened ball finials. The straight, plainly turned arms are supported by the baluster ends of the ring turned bulb footed tapering front legs. There is a ball-and-baluster turned front stretcher with elongated thimble ends. There are dowel stretchers at the sides and back. American. |
