Description |
Cupboard, circa 1700 An English joined cabinet with hinged top, fielded panels, original shelving and rails with molded edges. The oblong two board-top has a milled thumbnail edge on three sides. The top may not be original as it does not fit correctly. Doors are made up of two fielded panels each, the lower one taller that the upper. All joints are secured with wooden pins. Sides also have fielded panels. Exterior surfaces are grain-painted, not original. Door hinges are wroght iron - "H" style. The brass ring pulls on the doors are not original. The stiles on all sides extend to form the feet. The four paneled sides are divided by channeled stiles and rails, the back is enclosed by four vertical planks, one replaced. In the divided interior, there is a single removable shelf on the right side and two shelves on the left sides. |
