Description |
Mezzotint, "Boy with Twigs," by an unknown artist, circa 1810. A Hogarth-type framed English hand-painted mezzotype print with a rectangular black and gold eglomise border with scattered gold stars. Image is contained in an oval within the border. Depicts a standing figure of a barefoot boy holding a bundle of twigs overhead in his right hand and in his left he's holding a switch. A cottage and forested area forms the backgound. The boy is wearing tattered white short pants, a white shirt, red vest and navy jacket. Donor was related to the Ingersoll family, previous owners of the Turner Ingersoll Mansion. |
