Reverse glass mezzotint, portrait of Admiral Sir Charles Wagner, see below for artist information. Circa 1737. Portrait of Admiral Sir Charles Wager (1666-1743). Wagner was British Commander-in-Chief of the West Indies. Image is in an oval of a middle-aged man wearing a billowy wig, cravat, and a frock coat. A ship flying a pennant and a flag forms the background. English. Inscription at bottom of print reads: T. Gibson pinx.T I. Faber fecit 1737 The Right Hon. ble S (L) Charles Wager Kn.t Admiral of ye White Squadron of his May ties fleet. First Lord Commiss of ye Admiralty and one of his Majesties most Hon. ble Privy Council. Done from an original painting in ye possesion of the Rt Hon. ble Arthur Onslow Esq. of ye Hon. ble House of Commons.
