Chinese Export Box, 19th Century Nineteenth century Chinese Export wood framed pigskin covered box painted with gold highlights. A two-part flat top oblong box with a hinged lid and brass hasp. The box is highlighted with applied decorations. The cover has a central oriental medallion and four butterfly spandrels. The front has four fretwork oblong panels. The ends have a lotus blossom motif and two conjoined diamonds. |
