Description |
Lantern, circa 1850 A mid-nineteenth century black painted tin and glass hanging or carrying lantern that has been electrified at some point. The removable flat circular base has straight conforming sides with a punched band of five-pointed stars. The octagonal paneled glass globe is protected by eight vertical wire guards and a single medial circular one forming a cage. The vertical wire guards are soldered to the plain circular tin base of the lamp and the reticulated top collar. The collar is decorated with a band of diamonds and a double band of five-pointed stars. Above the domed cap there is a large, wide circular handle. |
