Pen, mid-19th century, possible Hawthorne connection Thin pen made of glass, Slender handle is of a deep amethyst color with the nib being clear glass. For dipping into an ink well. Note from donor Janet Appleton (now missing) says "this is a writing pen (ink) and possibly of the Hawthorne's day; anyway, it is old. Used in/on the desk (Hawthorne's) in an old inkwell which I do not have, Janet" |
