Description |
Dressing Mirror, circa 1750. English dressing mirror. Small case with fall front, inside are 5 drawers and 3 cubby holes; below fall front is a large drawer divided into sections and painted red vermillion. Two upright posts support a looking glass with arched top, glass is beveled. Case supported by four black bun feet .A shaped, beveled mirror plate in a molded adjustable frame supported by a fall front case with a single serpentine front drawer above a scalloped apron and ending in ball feet. Interior drawer has sixteen fitted compartments and one hidden drawer. Interior of case opening consists of six drawers and three pigeon holes. The interior of the drawers painted in red. Surface is black varnish with Asian scenes painted in gold powders - japanned. |
