Description |
Gables Doll, 20th Century A hand painted and carved wooden jointed and unclothed peg doll. The rounded head has applied side curls. The hair and eyes are black. The circular mouth is red. The legs and arms have mortise and tenon joints with tiny wooden pegs for articulation. The white painted hands are whittled points. The whittled shaped feet are painted red and white. From around 1920 to the 1980s, the Gables Gift Shop commissioned and sold reproduction peg-jointed dolls with period clothes made by Gables staff and volunteers. |
